What you can expect
Your adventure begins at the scheduled meeting time at Petaluma Marina or Carneros Brewery. After checking in with our guide, you will follow them via car to the launch location. At the launch site, you will be fitted for a life-preserver, given a paddle and fit for your kayak or SUP and fishing equipment. Most of our fleet consists of sit-on-top tandem kayaks and stand up paddle boards that are stable and well suited for fishing. They also have compartments and bungee straps for locking down water bottles and belongings. The adventure will begin with a safety briefing and introduction to the region's tides and weather. Next, review the equipment and receive complete instruction on paddling and fishing techniques for Striped Bass. Once on the water, your guide will get you to the fishing holes.
On the San Pablo Bay, you may see red-tail hawks and golden eagles hunting from the groves of trees over the marsh, migratory birds like American green-winged teal, buffleheads and Canada geese. Fish species commonly found in these waters are Striped Bass, White Sturgeon, Steelhead and Salmon. Striped Bass fishing is the most popular with a range in size up to 30 pounds. The average catch is in the 2 - 6 pound range. You can expect to spend 4 hours on the water.
